Stating that the US is disregarding the CDC's recommendations is demonstrably false.

You've reached the bottom of the barrel when you start with the tough guy crap. OH no you've crushed me! You're so tough and successful you spend 20 hours a week hate-reading and insulting a blogger for the Phoenix Coyotes.

I appreciate the fact that you constantly embarrass yourself for my entertainment, but at a certain point I'd think you'd clue into the fact that you are paying me every time you insult me, which really, just makes them into gifts.

Besides which I have such contempt for you and the things you say you believe that I honestly just feel bad for you, and in no way am I insulted by your low opinion of me.

I deal in the facts and thank goodness not your alternate reality.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but not your own facts. I'm available to debate you anytime.

Here you are again accusing others of doing exactly what you do!

Honestly, what level of intelligence does someone have who routinely insults his patrons? That put money into his pocket? Tanner, everyday you prove that education does not automatically make a person intelligent. I also get a kick out of those who criticize someone for participating in an online message board. Actually very funny.

What you fail to realize is that you can't generate discussion in your blogs with just straight hockey talk. You need to be provocative, bring up politics and insult people to drive conversation. Nobody wants to discuss a blog that literally took 5 minutes to write with the deep in depth and inside knowledge of posting a players Corsi or relative corsi.

Thanks for the tip. Always looking for another good Rock book. Ever read Evening's Empire by Bill Flanagan? It's a fun read.

Obviously it works, because my two sentence comments receive three paragraph responses.

I enjoy putting pennies in your pocket. Someone has to take care of your kid! God knows you waste all your money on rent, Jean jacketss, and vinyl records.

And I spend about 20 minutes a day making fun of you. Money well spent. Use my money and go buy your kid an ice cream cone or something

The US and leadership has done very well consulting and following CDC recommendations; not sure how you draw that bullpo0p conclusion

Actually despite the media distorting the facts, US leadership has handled the issue with incredible tact and caution. They even sniffed it out early in February and halted air travel from the virus source, much to some political damming. I’m Suprised an intelligent Fella like yourself would fall in line with the lemmings there JT.

I have not but I will check it out. I swear to god, if you're interested at all in the Strokes, Interpol, the Watchman etc. you'll love this book. It's 600 pages and it's entirely just interviews, so prose. It's very cool.

Look, I don't want to get into politics or whatever, but this idea that anyone who tells you something you don't want to hear is brainwashed by the media is seriously problematic. You essentially just yell "haters" whenever you are criticized. I don't get it. There is no possible angle at all where you can say the U.S handled this well. It is a tragic failure on par with anything in the history of the nation.

To sit here and say what you're saying is offensive on so many levels. Like it's one thing to be misinformed, but to have gorged at the propaganda trough to the point where you're saying anyone telling the objective and actual truth is some kind of lemming.........well that's a sickness.

I am shocked by your post. Absolutely just dumbstruck and speechless.

I think this might be a location thing where whomever may be in regards to this. I mean, it’s been taken seriously by authorities and the govt here, but your area might be different. I dunno. I can only speak for what I’ve seen in the mid-atl region. I live in DC, work near Baltimore, and my family is in Philly. Its being treated as no joke here by anyone, be it private, business, or government.

I know mjl is a Flyers guy, so I think(?) he’s talking about there? Maybe not?

I’m not sure where Tanner is, nor is it my business. Could be handled not as well in his region.

It’s definitely state to state at this point.

The Word ‘Problematic’ Declared Problematic

The word problematic . . . gives people a way out, easing the burden of identifying exactly what about the state of the word gives people unease.

Simply knowing that something is wrong is not enough. Rather, you still need to know the answers to questions such as Where does the injustice lie and what societal values has it violated?

Instead of using the word “problematic,” people should stay silent until they have more specific words to describe what’s wrong before speaking.

"Let that pause linger,” he writes. “Let it hang in the air until you either have decided on the crime committed or are brave enough to admit that you’re not quite sure how the wrong has been wrought — that is a brave act and the start of what is likely an incredibly valuable conversation.”

Now, I’ll be the first one to say that I don’t particularly enjoy the word “problematic.” For me, I find that it’s all too often uttered by overzealous social-justice warriors who are looking for an issue where there really isn’t one.

The word ‘problematic’ has become, well, problematic

The term itself is not used unthinkingly; it is used precisely to avoid having to think about whether the specific case in question is ‘problematic’ or not.

If one says that something is ‘problematic’, one does not have to engage with how, or whether, it really is.

Too often people instinctively label something problematic either to dismiss discussing how it is problematic, or when they haven’t yet checked whether something really is problematic.

This kind of mental footnoting is unhelpful and self-indulgent.

Problematic is a word that implies a whole set of assumptions and yet invites no ability for those assumptions to be questioned – it is the conclusion of a debate rather than an argument in itself.

Some people see branding things as problematic to shut down debate as a victory rather than a defeat.

Let’s confine this word to the scrapheap. When there’s a genuine problem, it obfuscates and we don’t find the solution.

First, you brought up the politics on a hockey based forum, but now you don't want to talk about it?

Secondly, the last time I posted a statement that you didn't want to hear, about hockey I'll add, you started insulting me publicly without addressing the substance at all. Now you're scolding other people a few days later for similar but less offensive actions and also claiming you're "dumbstruck", and "speechless". You should seriously slow down and evaluate where you want this career and/or hobby to go for you. It appears rudderless, and like you're just responding to the next stimuli in front of you.

What do I know though, I probably have one of several cognitive deficiencies.

Pulling quotes, most out of context, don't dismiss that Trump closed flights from China before any country in the world, and against every Dem out there. Frickin Biden and Clinton still say they wouldn't have done that at end of January...... JANUARY!!!! That alone is more then anyone has done to combatCovid..

..Actions are what matters... not some gaffs made by a person who's speaking on TV 24 hours a day.

The Virus was already in the US when he closed it down! So it was too late. Really stupid argument, And I'm not into politics at all. I just watched as the world leader Trump, was not taking it seriously. Now this is the result. History will remember.

I should have known better.
You guys aren't going to change your stance on this and neither am I.
IMO trump has done a pretty terrible job of being a leader during this pandemic and deflects any responsibility. He cannot accept any criticism or poor press. He comes across as nothing more than a tantrum-throwing spoiled man-child.
I'll give him some credit for stopping flights from China after Italy did, even though flights still arrived afterwards with US residents and 14 quarantine.
Anyways, congrats on being #1

So you go into a rage simply because other people have different opinions, that you dismiss as stupid?

Hmm, might I suggest a more mature or intelligent response? Personally, I don't get into a rage, ever. Instead, when other people express an opinion that doesn't make sense to me...I attempt to understand their perspective. Sometimes I change my view. But usually I walk away with a better understanding of others. Probably works better than going into a rage. Also notice that my approach leads to continual education. Although I know you measure education based on what degree you earned in university. You often label people based on the level of education...when true education comes from learning each day. So while you spend your time going into a rage, or re-watching mindless movies, other people learn continuously. Mic drop.

Ugh Italy got hit before the US, so how is that a knock on Trump? That act of closing flight form China, saved thousands from getting infected.

I don't like how he responds and talks sometimes, but I can't imagine having a job where 95% of the media gives you Zero credit for anything. I'd be tooting my horn a bit too much as well.
